A look at the work done to create the logo for the new podcast "C & B Family Radio Hour" so it best reflected the queer, vintage, unorthodox tone of the show.
C&B Family Radio Hour is a vintage radio drama collection sponsored by a cigarette company. To evoke that in the logo I chose to play with vintage microphones, radios and cigarette packaging.
I leaned heavily into script fonts for the "C&B" portion of the logo to evoke the painted sign feel of the era.
Logo and font chosen it was time to play with colors. It had been requested that the colors be bright and zany to reflect the unorthodox aspect of the show.
Deciding on varying shades and hues.
This was the final design until it was pointed out that the cigarette box looked like a giant eraser.
I presented every possible color combination that excluded the box from being pink.
The podcast creators realized that pink triangles have historically been used as a symbol for gay rights. This fit the queer show themes perfectly and the final color scheme is the colors of the trans flag.
